three reasons love from a to z is on my tbr

Yesterday was the release day of Love From A To Z by S.K. Ali, and I could not be more excited. I’m already counting down the days* to it being on the shelves in Malaysia so I can pick up both this and Saints And Misfits.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about both S.K. Ali’s books, but I thought I’d make a short list of why I am super excited for it.

  • Characters who journal are, in my opinion, a little rare these days. Especially male characters who journal? I think it’s going to give a very different approach to the story, and it lets the reader really understand the characters. This was surprisingly a huge draw for me. I think it’s a combination of the way the synopsis was phrased – with the marvels and oddities approach – and the way the characters looked on the cover.
  • The author described the novel as a ‘think-com’ in a tweet rather than a ‘rom-com’, and it has intrigued me so much. I know the romance is a part of the story, but it’s going to be thought-provoking as well. The way the characters are described, and the way a few reviews I’ve read have talked about the book tell me it is going to be something that will really stir the emotions.
  • I will admit though, the main thing that had me really, really excited about the novel was the fact that it is the first time I am seeing a main character with multiple sclerosis (MS). I don’t think I’ve ever talked about it on my blog, but in December 2015, I was diagnosed with MS. My family was all shaken up about it, because my aunt has the same, and she deteriorated over the past few years, so it was quite a hit to us. Dealing with it over the past few years has had me feeling all over the place, so I am really excited about connecting with a character that is going through something similar. There are many strands of MS, but the emotions of it all are going to be there, and I cannot wait for the roller-coaster of feels I know I’m about to be hit with.

And there you have it, my short list of reasons I am so excited for Love From A To Z. The more I hear about it, the more reviews I read, the more excited I get!

Is it on your TBR too?
