Alternatively titled; 12 Types Of Books To Get Babies Interested In Reading<\/strong><\/em>, which was kind of a mouthful, so I went with the first. Which sounds like a self-help post for mommy bookworms who don’t want to feel guilty for wanting to spend time with her books instead of her baby.<\/p>\n No, I’m not projecting my issues, what do you mean?<\/p>\n A N Y W H O.<\/p>\n I’m one of the few Mommy Book Bloggers I know, but I feel like this is good if you’re baby-sitting, or something along those lines too. It’s never too early to get someone interested in reading.<\/p>\n I’m going to be honest, I chose the number twelve because it is my daughter’s birthday on the 9th of the month, and she has been alive for twelve months, and I wanted to put down a type of book for each month she has been alive. Sentimental, no?<\/p>\n In no particular order, the types of books that will guarantee capture a baby’s attention. For at least two minutes.<\/p>\n And there you have it! A list of books to use to turn babies into bookworms. A list of types of books my daughter adores to play with – so much so that she’s almost torn her peek-a-book book!<\/p>\n I’m going to admit, I had a lot of fun taking photos for this post because my daughter kept turning to me and smiling at the camera. And then trying to steal the camera from me so she could see my face.<\/p>\n It was an Event, and I got a lot of cuddles.<\/p>\n Did I miss any sort of book? Bright colours are the first thing that catch anybody’s eyes, let alone a baby’s. Textured books. Books with furry elements, maybe. Or ridged pictures. It doesn’t just teach them different sensations, it keeps them from throwing the book to the floor because they get distracted by the different sensations! Peek-a-boo books. This type of book can be a little bit easy for the kids to destroy, but they’re also insanely fun for them to play with. Trust me, they’re easily amused. Books with moving parts. I don’t actually know what to call this type of book? They have those little sliding pieces on the pages that the kids can play with? My daughter loves this, so much. Soft cushion books. These are more for early stages, because they tend to throw the books around and – well, hit themselves. Plus, you don’t feel guilty if they ever fall asleep holding these books because it’s like hugging a small soft toy. Musical books! Press a button, and they’ll be flipping pages trying to figure out where the sound is coming from. Talking books. Connected to the above, these books don’t just have sounds, but read the stories to the babies! Or, alphabet, or colours, or whatever the book is about. Books to connect to the pram. Having toys fixed to the pram is very important. It keeps the baby entertained, and books? Multiple pictures they can flip through? Definitely fun for them, and it lets you do your shopping. Pop-up books. Aahhh, the ever fun pop-up book. Careful, though. If you’re dealing with a grabby baby, they might pull the pop-up right off. Puppet books. The baby is at the stage where she likes to put her hands in things, so I’m bringing out the puppet book for her to play with. She already loves the sensation of putting her hand in her bottle cover and playing around with it, so I’m pretty sure this is going to be a win. Colouring books. This one is an obvious. We’ve just got to be careful the pencils are used on the paper and don’t go in their mouths! Personalised books! This might just be me, because I wrote my nephew a little book using his photos for his first birthday a couple of years ago, and now I’ve done the same for my daughter.
