We were both students, and it was just easy to make after a long day.<\/p>\n<p>It never hurt that pasta is always yummy.<\/p>\n<p>So there was always at least two cans of tomatos in the apartment and a packet of fusili and gnocchi.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2487 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/araopenpages.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lighter-tomato-cream-pasta.jpg\" alt=\"lighter tomato cream pasta\" width=\"520\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/araopenpages.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lighter-tomato-cream-pasta.jpg 520w, https:\/\/araopenpages.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lighter-tomato-cream-pasta-300x288.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I adapted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texanerin.com\/gnocchi-with-lighter-tomato-cream-sauce\/\">this recipe from Texanerin<\/a>, and after realising I could make pink sauce with cream cheese instead of cream and cheese, I have not looked back. I&#8217;ve even adapted my cousin&#8217;s three cheese sauce into a cream cheese type sauce!<\/p>\n<p>This can be made with any pasta ever. I&#8217;ve had it with fusilli and with gnocchi and with penne, and it always tastes yum. I&#8217;ve added in spinach and mushrooms and even broccoli. The possibilities are endless, because this can be made as a base or as a sauce on it&#8217;s own.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Lighter Tomato Cream Pasta<\/h2>\n<p><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 can crushed tomatoes<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsps olive oil (or vegetable oil)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (or any chill flakes)<\/li>\n<li>125 grams cream cheese (I used lite)<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup basil<\/li>\n<li>1 packet your choice of pasta<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Method<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>prepare the your pasta as indicated on the packet.<\/li>\n<li>heat a large wok over medium heat and add oil.<\/li>\n<li>stir in can of crushed tomatoes, salt and pepper flakes and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.<\/li>\n<li>add cream cheese and basil, stir, and add prepared pasta.<\/li>\n<li>stir well.<\/li>\n<li>serve with cheese if you like.<\/li>\n<li>don&#8217;t share it with your partner.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2488 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/araopenpages.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lighter-tomato-cream-pasta2.jpg\" alt=\"lighter tomato cream pasta2\" width=\"520\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/araopenpages.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lighter-tomato-cream-pasta2.jpg 520w, https:\/\/araopenpages.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lighter-tomato-cream-pasta2-300x288.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d have the leftovers the next day and then make it again the day after.
