This past month has been A Lot in an emotional rollercoaster sort of way. Even from a little bit before that, I found myself falling behind on my store, my writing, my reading – heck, even watching TV and movies!<\/p>\n

The one thing I have somehow managed to keep from abandoning or taking a break from? Has been this blog.<\/p>\n

So even if, admittedly, some of my posts have been lacking, or more worryingly, I have fallen behind on reading and commenting on other blogs, I feel quite proud of the fact that I have still been blogging.<\/p>\n

Today, I will be talking – gushing, even – about my daughter. She’s one and a half, and as the only child of someone who was once called a ‘book anaconda’ by her cousins because of how much she reads, it’s not surprising that all my relatives and friends gravitate towards giving her books as presents.<\/p>\n

Seriously, all my friends don’t even bother asking me what they should get her. They just pick up books. It’s great.<\/p>\n

It would not have been great if she did not enjoy them, though.<\/p>\n

That should not have been surprising? But even though our only encouragement was that she flip through the books with the various textures and the music, she seems to have fallen in love with books.<\/p>\n

Give her a book, and she’ll content herself with flipping pages and trying to guess colours (she still can’t quite tell them apart) and pointing out animals (these she recognises!) for up to half an hour even. Plop her in front of her little shelf, and she can content herself for even longer, pulling the books out and switching them about until she finds one she likes.<\/p>\n

It is the most amazing sight and I love it.<\/p>\n

One of the first times we took her to the bookstore, she ran wild among the stacks, finding books she refused to let go of, sitting down and flipping through books just because she could. I’m a happy bookworm mother, especially because it means that now my husband just sighs when my daughter and I are both sitting and ‘reading’ in the living room.<\/p>\n

It is an adorable sight to see a toddler attempt to read to herself, especially when she doesn’t know her alphabets yet.<\/p>\n

My main worry now is that she refuses to leave a bookstore empty-handed, and our bank balance will not be able to take it! How do I train her out of that? My parents managed to with me, but considering the fact that my mother spoils her the most, well, any advice she gives is suspect.<\/p>\n

Help me not go broke?<\/p>\n
