Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won\u2019t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend – the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn\u2019t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she\u2019s been undermining her stepmother\u2019s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that\u2019s been raging for far too long.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve written a book review, so this may be a little bit all over the place and incoherent. Please bear with me.<\/small><\/p>\n

I finally got my hands on Winter after about a month of searching for it in bookshops, but then it took me another week or so to start reading it because of extenuating circumstances. Once I started though, it was hard pressed for me to stop. I took to twitter to post my flailing because I had no one to speak to about the book.<\/small><\/p>\n

This was the first book I finished this year, and what a way to start the year. My expectations for the end of the series were not just met, but surpassed. I felt like each character got a fitting culmination of their individual story lines, and that there was enough of an optimistic open-end for the future. Not every loose thread was wrapped up, but it was realistic. Or as realistic as a sci-fi fairytale series set in the future could be, anyway.<\/small><\/p>\n

I really enjoyed the novel, and I am definitely going to be reading more of Marissa Meyer\u2019s works as and when she publishes them. There is something about her writing that I really, really enjoy.<\/small><\/p>\n
