Yet I found myself picking this up at the local bookstore after coming across a friend’s reactions to it.

This is the first in a series of four, and it’s a nice set-up for an easy to read, easy to enjoy series. The characters are straight-forward and likable – each of the four female leads are sweet and strong in their own rights, and their friendship is arguably the best thing about the book.

Mac, as the focus of the first book, is the photographer part of the wedding planning agency she owns with three of her best friends. She’s a little reluctant to let herself love someone, she’s stubborn and she’s easily dragged back into her mother’s messes (now that’s a character to hate) but she’s capable of being strong, and she’s loyal to her friends.

Her love interest, Carter, is adorable. Basically, that’s it. I think I fell in love with that character the second he slammed into a wall. And the more I read about him, the more I loved him. He was geeky and sometimes awkward, but so sweet. Their relationship is filled with zingers and back and forth because Mac cannot commit, and there’s no major obstacle, but the novel never reaches the saccharine sweetness level I was fearing.

Nora Roberts balances the snark of the friends and the love story, and every character very well. I cannot wait to read the next novel and learn more about the other characters.

All I know, right now after reading this, is that I understand why Nora Roberts is heralded one of the best female fiction romance novelists of our time.

Vision In White by Nora Roberts Wedding photographer Mackensie “Mac” Elliot is most at home behind the camera, but her focus is shattered moments before an important wedding rehearsal when she bumps into the bride-to-be’s brother…an encounter that has them both seeing stars.
