‘Milk and honey’ is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. About the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. It is split into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose. Deals with a different pain. Heals a different heartache. ‘milk and honey’ takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Some of the poems seemed more impactful on Instagram than when I was reading the ebook. The formatting of the copy I got from the online library seemed a bit off, and that may have taken away from my ability to fully connect with her poetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a bluntness to the poems that works for some people, but for me, it was a hit and miss. Some poems clicked with me, but overall the stream of consciousness of the poetry did not gel with me. I think a little less of the in your face-ness of the poetry might have been better for me, but I understand why people enjoy her poetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She holds no bars, holds nothing back – she tells it as she sees it, and for some people, it is what they need. It did not work for me as a whole however, which was a little disappointing as I had rather high expectations. I think I will stick with seeing her poems on Instagram rather than reading the rest of her novels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
