It was simply written &#8211; there were a number of wonderful turns of phrase throughout the poems &#8211; and easy to follow. I liked that it was honest without feeling voyeuristic. Rather, it felt like someone inviting you to their heart and showing you the faint scars and telling you, reassuring you, that heartbreak is not the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the poems, some of the feelings felt repetitive, but because of the conversational and inviting tone of the book, it felt less like there was nothing new to say and more a reminder that healing is not always linear. Sometimes it\u2019s one step forward, two steps back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The illustrations were gorgeous and accompanied the poems very well, and I definitely liked that colours were only used for emphasis.
