I was wrong. I could. And I do.

Gods, how can I even get my thoughts down properly. This series I swear. I mean, I’m pretty sure I say that a lot but this series, really. These idiot boys. And Blue! Do not get me started on Blue.

She’s strong, of will, of mind, of heart. She is a good friend, does not take Adam’s or Gansey’s or Ronan’s shit. Which is great because the idiots. She’s wonderful to Noah – he’s as much her friend as the others, despite his situation. And her relationship with her mother. I love her relationship with her mother. There is so much of trust and care and concern and – something that Gansey says in the book struck me. Blue is very wealthy in love. Despite all her differences with some of the members of her household, there is no doubt that they all love one another very much.

It is similar with Gansey – despite how odd his fascination with Glendower might seem to his family, it is very obvious that the Ganseys would do anything for each other.

Adam, on the other hand. Adam does not know how to let people care for him because he has never had that. I want to be mad at him for the way he acts sometimes, because he gets angry, and he is so stubborn. But then you think about the boy he used to be, about how he is so desperate not to be like his father, to get out of the town because it represents everything he has never had – money, status – and a family. He sees his friends, who he cares about so much, and he sees how they all have families that care and he wants that more than anything, I think.

I mean, yes, Ronan and his brother do not get alone. But his younger brother is a sweetheart, his mother obviously cared, his father did too, and he has this bond with Gansey that none of the others have. Though he also makes decisions that affect his friendship with Gansey – he also grows a lot as a character in this novel. We see more of his background, of his relationships with his family and with Kavinsky (who I still do not like) and with his friends, and I cannot wait to learn more.

I need more of Noah, to be honest. I want to learn more of what he was like before, and why he is still there, why he attached himself to these three boys.

Also I need the boys to fix things properly because they all need each other more than they think. (Adam rushing to help Ronan because despite what he may say he does care for him, Gansey dropping everything to look for Adam and the utter panic he feels, Noah just Noah, Blue doing anything for her boys because she is, let’s be real, probably the smartest out of them, Ronan secretly paying Adam’s rent and throwing himself headfirst into abilities he does not really understand to try and get Gansey’s Pig back.)

I hope Maggie goes down the route she seems to be hinting at for Ronan. Because I would really like to see that. They are both so different from the others, and they understand each other more than they like to admit, and they could balance each other out. One who recklessly throws himself into things for the rush, the other who errs on the side of caution almost too much.

I am not even going to touch the Gansey/Blue thing with a pole because I cannot fathom how much more perfect they could get. How much more they could break my heart. (I have a sinking feeling that the answer to that would be a lot.)

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same.
