;five asian authors i want to love
It’s the Year Of The Asian, everyone, so obviously I’m going to have at least one post a month relating to either Asian books, bloggers or authors!* *Related posts: ;five asian bloggers you should follow ;five asian authors i love There are a number of Asian authors who have been published over the last few years, and who are debuting this year. I am very excited about a lot of this, and I am looking forward to more, but in this post, I will be talking about authors who have published before 2019 and whose books are on my TBR, but I have not, for whatever reason, been able to…

TWISTED TALES; the wild swans
I couldn’t cast all the brothers, so I didn’t cast the Queen Of The Fairies either, but feel free to give me your thoughts on who would play them well anyway! Twisted Tales is a series of photosets depicting POC fancasts of fairytales that are traditionally cast as not-POC. Featuring: Kelly Marie Tran as the Princess Santiago Cabrera as the King Eva Mendes as the Witch Don Cheadle as the Archbishop As soon as the sun went down beyond the sea, the swans threw off their feathers and there stood eleven handsome Princes. They were her brothers, and, although they were greatly altered, she knew in her heart that she…

RACEBENT ROMCOMS; life as we know it
I actually unashamedly love Josh Duhamal a lot, but this movie can use a facelift. Racebent Romcoms has me taking existing Hollywood romantic comedies (and romances), and recasting them for the modern day with a more diverse cast. Featuring Jameela Jamil as Holly Berenson and Jason Momoa as Eric Messer. They love Sophie more than anything in they entire world, and out of everyone, Messer, they picked us.

;the power of social media
I think most of us know that being on any form of social media can be stressful. Not just as a performative thing (because the pressure to be exciting and fresh and relevant is there) or even as another way to get an audience for your blog or shop – but also because you have to be careful about what you say*. The Internet, after all, is forever. *Am I lowkey, not-so lowkey talking about the recent book Twitter drama? Yes, yes I am. Especially on Twitter, where things happen instantly. Someone is always online to see what you say, and everyone remembers. EVERYONE. REMEMBERS. It doesn’t matter if you…

;ten things I want more of in books
I actually had no idea what I was going to write for this blog post, but Book Twitter is going through another round of Drama (TM) and I want to stay far away from that, so let’s do a list of things I would love to see more of in books*. All books. Any books.** *I was going to do a YA specific list, but I’m an adult and should not be speaking for the actual target audience. I forget sometimes I’m not still a teenager. Whoops. **This list is in no way exhaustive and only represents my thoughts and feelings on the matter. ON WE GO! Dragons. Are you…

TWISTED TALES; three golden flowers
This is a Chinese fairytale that I think would make an interesting movie. An all Chinese cast would be great too, but this is a more general one, just as an ‘inspired by’ type of story. Twisted Tales is a series of photosets depicting POC fancasts of fairytales that are traditionally cast as not-POC. Featuring: Shailene Garnett as the Princess Chai Hansen as the Farmer’s Son Rick Worthy as the Chief Jackei Chan as the Fisherman “Find three golden orchids,” the wise man said upon examining the princess. “Their scent will cure her.” “Where are these golden flowers?” asked the chief. “They grow only where the sun shines through the…

RACEBENT ROMCOMS; about time
I loved this movie so much, and Domnhall Gleeson was a delight, but if they ever remade it, let’s remember to change things up, yeah? Racebent Romcoms has me taking existing Hollywood romantic comedies (and romances), and recasting them for the modern day with a more diverse cast. Featuring Samuel Anderson as Tim Lake and Katie Leung as Mary. There’s a song by Baz Luhrmann called Sunscreen. He says worrying about the future is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum. The real troubles in your life will always be things that never crossed your worried mind.
