Why I Still Post ‘Free To Read’ Stories

We’re coming up to the end of the third year of Author Avengers prompts. Meaning for me, personally, the third volume of Tales From Ajahta will be linked and pinned on Ko-fi! All of these prompt fills – almost 36! – are free to read on Ko-fi.
And despite the fact that my sales and members are low, they will keep being free to read on Ko-fi.
Why, you might ask.
Because maybe someone will read one and get enticed enough to subscribe for my other stories. Maybe someone will read one and want to know what my poetry looks like. Maybe someone will read one and decide to pick up one of my books.
Or maybe someone will read one and it will make them smile. Or think. Or connect with them in some way.
I’m not so altruistic though. Yes, I have stories up that are free to read. Yes, I do send out short stories with my newsletter every six months. And yes, not all of these are polished as they could be if I were publishing them as e-books.

And even then maybe someday I’ll change my mind about keeping them up as they are. Maybe I’ll put them behind a ‘members only’ button. I don’t know what the future holds.
For now though, I have a good deal of stories (and some poetry) free to read on Ko-fi. Some of these stories are interconnected. Some revisit characters at different points. Some revisit places. I’ve been thinking about maybe compiling them into a list for readers’ ease and convenience. Or at least make a note of it somewhere that it’s easy to find.
Options lie ahead of me! And I have time yet to decide what I want to do.

In the meantime, you can read Tales From Ajahta Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 on Ko-fi now!
