    review; among the nameless stars

Among The Nameless Stars by Diana Peterfreund Before Kai joined the Cloud Fleet, he wandered… AMONG THE NAMELESS STARS. Four years before the events of FOR DARKNESS SHOWS THE STARS, the servant Kai left the North Estate, the only home he’d ever known, and Elliot North, the only girl he ever loved, in search of a better life. But the journey was not an easy one. Featuring narrow escapes, thrilling boat races and at least one deadly volcanic wasteland. Review:

    RACEBENT ROMCOMS; you’ve got mail

There are problematic elements to this movie, but it’s still a classic. Switch it up and turn it around, and you could get a heck of a remake! Racebent Romcoms has me taking existing Hollywood romantic comedies (and romances), and recasting them for the modern day with a more diverse cast. Featuring Jamie Chung as Jo(e) Fox and Ricky Whittle as Kevin (Kathleen) Kelly. “So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn’t it be the other way around? I don’t really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void.”

    ;press play (and lets write)

One of the first few posts I planned when I started blogging was Press Play, a post about music and creating playlists in relation to books. This was, oh, sometime last year, and in turned into a post asking for websites I could use to post my playlists on. Today, I give you part 2 of that post, this time with regards to writing. It is NaNoWriMo, after all, and even if I’ve fallen WAY behind on my word count, I can still talk about making playlists for my projects, right? Right. As mentioned in my last blog post, I am attempting to work on four projects. From these four,…

    ;my nanowrimo goals

For the past few years, I’ve tried to take part in NaNoWriMo. I’ve never completed the challenge of writing 50,000 words in a month – not even come close, if I’m honest – but it does encourage me to actually sit down and write. Whether I’m writing blog posts like these, or working on abandoned fanfictions, at least I’m writing. And in the end, for me, that’s a win for NaNoWriMo. I realised after the first year I took part in NaNoWriMo that working on one project frustrates me. After I write it for a while, I start getting stuck, I start spiralling, and I stop writing. So since then,…

    TWISTED TALES; hansel and gretel

I aged them up a bit, just so that it could be a little more dark? Twisted Tales is a series of photosets depicting POC fancasts of fairytales that are traditionally cast as not-POC. Featuring: Sinqua Walls as Hansel Amandla Stenberg as Gretel Sofia Vergara as the Witch Colin Salmon as the Father Early in the morning before the children were awake, she was already up, and when she saw both of them sleeping and looking so pretty, with their plump and rosy cheeks, she muttered to herself, that will be a dainty mouthful.

    RACEBENT ROMCOMS; penelope

I unashamedly rewatch this movie all the time because it is light and fluffy and a great pick-me-up. Racebent Romcoms has me taking existing Hollywood romantic comedies (and romances), and recasting them for the modern day with a more diverse cast. Featuring Amara Karan as Penelope Wilhern and Carlos Valdes as Max Campion/Johnny Martin. And he’ll run too! They always run. Why can’t you accept that? For seven years I’ve been watching them run. Do you have any idea how that makes me feel? Do you?
