;my go-to feel good movies

bookworm things

This month has been A Lot. I have been lax on my social media accounts – both personal and shop accounts – because it’s just been emotional upheaval after emotional upheaval and I’ve been struggling to keep myself from going under.

I’m managing, somehow, to keep myself afloat.

Which is why I thought it was the perfect time to talk about my favourite movies to watch every time I want to see something that makes me happy. I went through a period where I was watching one of these movies every week, if not every other day.

my go to feel good movies

I make a lot of lists, don’t I? In no particular order:

  • The 1997 Rodger And Hammerstein’s Cinderella starring Brandy Norwood and Whitney Houston is a treat. I watch it at least three times a year, and it is honestly so colourful and fun and musical. I found a copy on YouTube that I’m going to admit I downloaded so I could watch over and over and over since I couldn’t find a legal copy anywhere.
  • Main Tera Hero is an example of a very ridiculous Bollywood movie, whereby you just switch off your brain and enjoy the fun and the music and the characters. It is one of the few non-melodramatic movies that are smartly written and plain entertaining. It helps that the cast is extremely attractive.
  • I watch Stardust a little less than I watch the others, but it is still a movie I love to watch when I need a pick me up. Everybody needs a little bit of magic and a little bit of love, and more of Captain Shakespeare in their lives.
  • This one isn’t a movie, and I haven’t seen it in a while, but A Very Potter Musical by Team StarKid, and the subsequent sequels are definitely a joy to watch when you want to smile and laugh. Even if you just watch snippets of it, or just the songs, it is always entertaining and it always leaves your mood a little lighter.

Of course, there are other movies that also are fun to watch – The Princess Bride is a classic favourite and Andaz Apna Apna is another completely ridiculous Bollywood comedy that I love. But these are the ones I watch the most, and the ones I recommend whenever someone asks for a pick me up.

What are your go-to movies on days when you just want to feel a little better about things?
