November has come to a close. With it, 2025 is coming to a close too. It’s been quite the year. If you’ve been following along on this page (and my newsletter), you’ll know just how much of a year it’s been. But writing has been happening, my daily streak has been going strong, and I haven’t missed a prompt story yet! This month’s prompt was a song suggested by me! OHHOW And The Joys Of Writing Streams
Last weekend, I took part in a writing event on Twitch after almost a year. OHHOW, or One Hundred Hours Of Writing, is a streaming event aiming to connect writers all over the world and encourage them to work on their projects – or anything, really – with the online community cheering them on. They track words, minutes, and turn what can be an isolating hobby or career into something fun and even competitive at times. AUTHOR AVENGERS; September Round Up
It’s officially more than two years since we started these prompts. It’s allowed me to try so many new genres and styles of storytelling across a span of so many different sorts of prompts. This month’s prompt was set by Ash and I’ll be honest, I almost went for something extremely tragic based on my religious history. I’ve been doing a bit of reading and learning again on the history of my ancestors and the prompt is perfect for that. This month’s prompt was not actually a prompt but actually a joke by Morris. Honestly though, it worked as a writing prompt, and it proved to be a fun one. AUTHOR AVENGERS; July Round Up
I recently started playing FFXIV so when Lou suggested the prompt for this month, it didn’t take me very long before I decided what my story was going to be – a sort of pre-canon of why my player character decided to set out from home to the main cities in the first place, but also just fleshing out her family a little bit. I had fun writing it, even if it doesn’t hit all the beats of the prompt. Games seems to be the vibe though, and I know I’m not the only one who leaned that way. AUTHOR AVENGERS; May Round Up
It’s May – or Star Wars month as Josh and L’poni and Morris reminded us in the Author Avengers server – so having a Star Wars-esque prompt seemed like the thing to do. I am a self-proclaimed no.1 Jedi fan, so I took it upon myself to find a quote from Buddha themself (the inspiration behind Jedi philosophies) for this month’s prompt: I leaned heavily into the similarities between the Jedi and Sikhism for this story, and I hope you enjoy it! This month’s prompt was given to us by Josh – it’s his birthday month! – and it was definitely a fun one though I didn’t end up going the direction I originally planned to. (If you’ve been reading along, you know we’ve had losses in the family, and this month’s prompt turned from an exploration of monsters to an exploration of grief. Writing has been helping me process and handle things to some extent and I hope that resonates.)
