2026 is off to a start, isn’t it? I can’t say much about the state of the world, or what will come, but on a writing front, our little server is going strong. NEWSLETTER SNIPPETS; Issue #6
The last newsletter of 2025 went out a couple of weeks ago. I can’t believe I’ve sent out six of these already and also started sending out short stories with alternate ones. It’s the end of the year, and while I’m pretty sure we’ll be continuing on with the tradition of prompt stories next year – this makes, what? 2 and a half years of prompts? I can’t quite believe it, but it has been so much fun. November has come to a close. With it, 2025 is coming to a close too. It’s been quite the year. If you’ve been following along on this page (and my newsletter), you’ll know just how much of a year it’s been. But writing has been happening, my daily streak has been going strong, and I haven’t missed a prompt story yet! This month’s prompt was a song suggested by me! Can you believe we’re in November? And last month’s prompt was a little more – shall we say, sad? A little more final and yet the offerings from my fellow writers still manage to highlight the goodness and kindness and empathy people show if only they choose to. (Yes, I said offerings. NEWSLETTER SNIPPETS; Issue #5
Three quarters into the year and writing blog post intros can still trip me up. I suppose because I don’t want to just rehash the newsletter snippets that will come after this? It’s officially more than two years since we started these prompts. It’s allowed me to try so many new genres and styles of storytelling across a span of so many different sorts of prompts. This month’s prompt was set by Ash and I’ll be honest, I almost went for something extremely tragic based on my religious history. I’ve been doing a bit of reading and learning again on the history of my ancestors and the prompt is perfect for that. This month’s prompt was not actually a prompt but actually a joke by Morris. Honestly though, it worked as a writing prompt, and it proved to be a fun one. I recently started playing FFXIV so when Lou suggested the prompt for this month, it didn’t take me very long before I decided what my story was going to be – a sort of pre-canon of why my player character decided to set out from home to the main cities in the first place, but also just fleshing out her family a little bit. I had fun writing it, even if it doesn’t hit all the beats of the prompt. Games seems to be the vibe though, and I know I’m not the only one who leaned that way. I’ve written four of these now and it doesn’t seem to be getting any easier. These blog intros, not the newsletters.
