NEWSLETTER SNIPPETS; Issue #5

Three quarters into the year and writing blog post intros can still trip me up. I suppose because I don’t want to just rehash the newsletter snippets that will come after this? Ah well, I’ll let them do the talking.
There’s something about the second half of the year that’s just – busy and quick in so many ways. These past few months have seen some travel – I finally went to visit my parents! I also came down with such bad food poisoning two days in that I was hospitalised, but that’s not important. Then there were TWO weddings within the span of a week – which was a lot of fun, really, and some really good food. (Yes, I did ignore the fact I’d had food poisoning not so long ago to enjoy the food at the wedding. No, I regret nothing.)
But we’re going into October now. My birthday month, and also Diwali’s coming up! I’m looking forward to that, because these last three months seem to have flown by more quickly than I know what to do with.

It’s The Great British Bake Off season and I am not ashamed to say I am, once again, back on my bullshit. It is one of the few shows I remain up to date with. I also FINALLY finished up the first season of The Librarians The Next Chapter, and what was that ending? I’m so glad we know we’re getting season 2 because what??? What????
It’ll be back to Hallmark movies next quarter though, I have so many from this year (and last!) to catch up on as we go into the Countdown to Christmas movies. You know I’ll be talking about them in the next newsletter!

I’ll go back in time to talking about the two pitch events I took part in this past August, but more excitingly, I have a Shiny New Project in the works! I’m not sure if this cosy fantasy will be a short story or a novella – a novel is unlikely – but it’s sparking so much joy. I’m actually attempting to outline. I’m a pantster, so this is new for me. Wish me luck!
As for the other projects that have been in the works – The Ferryman’s Wife And The Black Fox, which went out with the last newsletter, will be published as an e-pub at the end of the year. I think that’s going to be the plan with the newsletter free short stories – six months later, they’ll go on sale for the rest of the world. I hope you enjoy getting them for free first!
Kind Regards And Warm Wishes is still being edited. I’ve done all the notes I needed to for it, but the Shiny New Project and some short stories have taken priority right now. I also printed out FS WIP to make my notes on that novella, and once the outline for SNP is done, it’s back to these two projects.
They were the projects I focused on for Hashtag Posterpit, which was a lot of fun to participate in. Before that, I took part in Hashtag QuestPit. Making graphics for Desi Persuasion – which finally has a title I think I’m happy with! – got me thinking about the story again. It is definitely back in rotation, I’ve been working on a few notes on the next few scenes and hopefully, 2026 will see me working on this more.

I held a poll in the April newsletter for which short story I’d be sending out in the next one, and I’m doing that again!
Which story would you rather get in December?
- To Mother You Again
- Wreathed In Smoke And Fire

I’ve also got my treatment coming up in November – probably will spend that half-day watching Hallmark Christmas movies since the Countdown to Christmas stuff will have started. I’m looking forward to the movies, and hopefully that will get me through hallmark novella edits.

Onwards into the last quarter of the year!
