    My Ko-fi Journey

With all the drama and confusion happening over on yonder parts of the Internet, I’ve not managed to sit down and actually articulate what I am doing, and what I plan to do on Ko-fi. It’s been just barely a year since I started getting more active on the site, and I’ve seen a wonderful bit of interaction with my content there that has been encouraging. Can you believe I’m a Ko-fi Ambassador? I still can’t! The thing I’ve noticed with Ko-fi is that having a schedule has helped me stay on track. Since I’ve started using the site more, I’ve kept to a three-times a week schedule, and it…

Hallmark Presents; A 2022 Movie Rec List

Earlier this year, when I came down with Covid, I wrote a post about how I was watching a lot of Hallmark movies. This has not really changed. For the past few months, I have been watching so many of these feel good, predictable movies because – as much fun as Netflix romcoms can be – Hallmark (and Lifetime) movies have an earnestness most Netflix movies lack. They laugh with you, even the ones that are genre aware, never at you. And because I’ve been talking about this A LOT with friends, some of them have asked me for recommendations for the days when you just want a pick me…

    CONTENT CREATION INTERLUDE: Imposter Syndrome

The thing about creating is that no two people have the same approach to it. So sometimes, when you hear or read something that works for someone else, and it does not for you, it can be – discouraging, to say the least. Demoralising, even. CONTENT CREATION 203: ‘One Size Fits All’ Does Not Apply

If there is one thing I’ve learned over the years of writing and content creation, it is that everybody has their own methods and approaches. Even all these posts I’ve been making are things I have read or learned from other people, adapted for myself, while disregarding other pieces of advice that did not work for me. CONTENT CREATION 202: Compare Only To Yourself

An important thing about creating content is that your mindset is very important. You have to make sure you are in the right one when creating, even when you don’t feel it. One of the things I still struggle with is comparisons. I look at the creators around me and think myself inadequate…

CONTENT CREATION 201: Believe In Your Message

Writing these Content Creation posts have helped me figure out what works best for me, and how to articulate it in a way that is – I hope – understandable to others. It’s given me a way to discuss what I do with my family and friends a little more. I hope these little nuggets of lessons I have learned are helpful to you as well. CONTENT CREATION INTERLUDE: The Procrastination Problem

Surprisingly, I did not procrastinate on writing this blog post. It helps a little that I have the first drafts of most of my Content Creation series up on LinkedIn already – so transferring them over and editing them is all I have to do. A lot of times I still procrastinate on even that, I’ll be honest, but not this time! CONTENT CREATION 101: Commit To What You CreateCONTENT CREATION 102: Find Your Own “Write Drunk, Edit Sober”CONTENT CREATION 103: The First Draft Is For You I guess it’s safe to say that I do have a procrastination problem. CONTENT CREATION 103: The First Draft Is For You

I realised when I started putting together this blog post that I messed up my original plotted out order of this series! Not that it matters in the long run – these tips and tricks aren’t things that have to be chronological. They are simply things I have learned over the years and wish to share. Hopefully, something resonates with you. CONTENT CREATION 102: Find Your Own “Write Drunk, Edit Sober”

Over the years, I’ve come to figure out which tips and tricks found online in the variety of writing advice columns and blogs work for me, which I should discard completely, and which work with a little bit of tweaking. It has all been experimentation and knowing oneself and one’s own writing style. Hopefully someone finds some advice they can use in this series. CONTENT CREATION 101: Commit To What You Create The saying “write drunk, edit sober” is something probably every writer (and content creator) has seen on advice blogs everywhere. Most of the time it is written as a tongue-in-cheek nudge to creators to not overthink their work,…

CONTENT CREATION 101: Commit To What You Create

I’ve learnt many lessons over the years of creating content. Not all of them may work to you. Experimentation – trial and error, figuring your own path – is something everyone should do for themselves. But if any of these tips that I figured out for myself help you in any way? I’ll be glad to have helped out. One of the first of these lessons was that when you start creating something, you should commit to it. If you are not confident in your content, if you are unhappy or unsure in any sort of way about what you are putting out there, it shows. It shows if you…
