SPOTLIGHT; M.A. Vice in an Interview with the Author

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these types of posts. But when I found out The Impavidus Cycle was getting new paperbacks, I jumped on the chance to be a part of the cover reveal. They were posted everywhere on the 14th – I even changed up my bookstagram upload schedule for this and I regret nothing – and then I thought, hey, you know what? I’m going to ask Meg a few questions as well if she is up for it.

She was, and I am so grateful to her for the chance of not just sharing the new covers – aren’t they gorgeous? – but also of getting a little interview in!

The Impavidus Cycle is a dark fantasy trilogy about identity, family, despair, and finding yourself. Albtraum, a young daemon, awakens into the world of humans with no memory and no knowledge of his surroundings. His only guidance is the ghostly voice of his father – his only directive is to kill any human who crosses his path. But when he encounters a secret society of immortal beings who want to bring him into their fold, everything he knows will be challenged. He may be their last hope to end the corruption threatening the very foundations of the world… just as they may be his only hope to discover his own humanity.

What brought about the cover change? Was there an underlying reason for it?

With the first anniversary since the series was completed coming later this year, I wanted to do a major overhaul of the series’ hardcovers – which more info will be coming regarding those soon! As I was finalizing those designs, I thought it would be a good time to update the paperbacks as well – both to differentiate them, and also to create smaller, more compact books that I can offer at a much more affordable price point (a full $6 USD cheaper than they were before!), with the hardcovers being the more “premium” option. Plus, the illustrations for these covers, done by my dear friend Mimi K, are incredible and I want to share them with the world!

What do you think the biggest lesson you’ve learned since publishing the first book of the series has been? How much has your process and approach changed since then?

The biggest lesson I have taken through this journey is not to compromise on what is important to me in creating stories. The nature of creating anything is that you will never be able to please everyone, so you should write what is important to YOU and trust that the right audience will come in time.

My process has changed a lot since I first started – when I published Birthright originally in 2020 I had NO idea what I was doing, so I have been learning as I go. But I’m proud of all the work I’ve done and where the series stands today.

You read that right, not only do these second editions have new, more compact formatting and gorgeous new cover illustrations, they will also be available at a much more affordable price point than the previous editions at just $15.99 USD each! They will be available to purchase on Amazon starting on July 1st.
